WE ARE BBC STUDIOS

A globally renowned media company borne of the BBC. We make and distribute the world’s most sought-after TV, audio and digital content.

Our ambition is to be the home of the most powerful, entertaining, and inspiring stories for people all around the world.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Saturday Mash-Up! is looking for a Digital Content Researcher. You will come up with ideas and produce digital content to support the live show. You will be a social media expert, including TikTok, Instagram and YouTube; whether from running your own channel, supporting a TV programme in a similar role, or providing content to a channel like The Social. You will have up-to-date knowledge of trends and viral content, and enjoy connecting the show with its digitally native audience.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM?

At Saturday Mash-Up!, no two days are the same — and that’s exactly how we like it. You’ll be part of a fun, fast-paced, and genuinely supportive team that thrives on creativity, collaboration, and a shared love of making engaging digital content for young audiences. Your knowledge and expertise in social media and digital trends will help the show continue to engage with audiences and ensure Saturday Mash-Up! is what everyone’s talking about.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

* Contribute to brainstorms and pitch creative, digital ideas that reflect the interests and fun filled nature of the show’s young audience
* Assist the Content Producer to develop and produce digital content that will stand out online and encourage the audience to engage
* Monitor social media platforms daily to identify emerging trends, viral content, and youth-relevant topics that can inspire on-air segments
* Source engaging user-generated content and secure necessary permissions for broadcast use, ensuring all material is editorially appropriate and rights-cleared.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITIERA:

* Proven ability to identify and interpret emerging trends, especially on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, with a focus on youth culture and digital engagement
* Demonstrated experience in pitching original, fun, and interactive content ideas that resonate with a young audience and align with a show's tone and brand
* Hands-on experience supporting the creation of digital content, including compliance and ensuring alignment with Saturday Mash-Up! brand
* Experience of researching items and identifying potential content for the digital space. Ability to communicate ideas and thoughts clearly through written and verbal mediums

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

* Awareness of editorial standards and safeguarding policies relevant to children’s programming, ensuring all content is age-appropriate and legally compliant.
* Experience of working with celebrity talent
* Experience of shooting
* Familiarity with Adobe software, including Premiere Pro, Photoshop and After Effects

If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
