Team Lead Mental Health Residential Support Worker (Young People - High-Risk Needs) Location: Rural Ninfield | Residential Care | Full-Time | Shift Work We're working with a respected provider of therapeutic residential care for children and young people, based in a rural location near Hastings, and we're seeking experienced Mental Health Specialist Team Leaders to join their team. This role is ideal for professionals with a background in secure units, CAMHS wards, psychiatric hospitals, youth offending, social work, behavioural therapist, crisis intervention or intensive support services - especially those who have supported young people managing complex trauma, high-risk behaviours, drug/alcohol misuse and acute mental health needs. What You'll Be Doing The Successful candidate will also need to be responsible as a member of the staff team to lead a shift and formulate support plans with young people, construct packages of support to meet their needs and for the direct day to day support and promote young people's physical, emotional and social welfare; promoting their capacity to take responsibility for themselves and to act responsible towards others; in accordance with the Children Act 1989. The young people in this setting may present with: Suicidal ideation and self-harm, including use of ligatures CSE (Child Sexual Exploitation) history or risk Sexualised behaviour and boundary-testing conduct Drug and alcohol misuse, including overdose incidents Aggressive or volatile responses to trauma and attachment issues Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: Direct work with young people, key working and generally taking an active part in providing support and care on a shift work basis. Working in partnership with young people, their social worker and other relevant agencies. To co-ordinate, monitor and review Care Plans, risk assessments, placement plans for all allocated young people preparing to make the positive transitions to positive outcomes and greater independence. Taking responsibility for the upkeep of the establishment with regard to health and safety and primary care issues, as well as making autonomous decisions about individual young people's requests and behaviour whilst on shift. Administrative work and record keeping associated with key working responsibilities and the daily running of the home. To ensure that young people carry as much responsibility for their own lives as they can reasonably and demonstrably be expected to carry, keeping them informed of their circumstances and rights, involving them in planning their lives, supporting them and helping them towards taking greater control and responsibility What We're Looking For Experience working with young people in secure mental health, forensic, or trauma-informed residential settings. Level 3 Diploma in Residential Care (or equivalent) Strong understanding of safeguarding, particularly in relation to CSE, self-injury, and mental health crises Confidence in working with high-risk behaviours and emotionally dysregulated young people Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willingness to obtain) A full UK driving licence is essential - the service is based in a rural area not accessible via public transport Emotional resilience, clarity under pressure, and a therapeutic mindset Why Work Here?
