Overview
Building Service Engineer Job purpose We are looking for a qualified Commercial Gas, Multi Skilled Engineer with gas, HVAC and mechanical bias, to provide and maintain a high level of building maintenance and support to our client. The Engineer is expected to carry out the day to day planned preventative maintenance, reactive and project work. You would be expected to complete these tasks within a contractual timescale and making sure that all documentation is completed accurately and correctly. The Engineer will be part of a team of multi-skilled technical support staff that ensure that the service provided meets the contractual requirements and complies with all relevant regulations and laws, as well as supporting other service streams on the contract when necessary. The Building services engineers will be responsible within the site team to ensure that all the electrical and mechanical aspects of the site perform safely, effectively and efficiently.
Responsibilities
* Carry out Planned Maintenance and reactive tasks for all mechanical and electrical engineering and fabric related tasks on the Contract as required, and undertake engineering and fabric reactive and project duties as required and instructed.
* Attend call outs/breakdowns, carry out fault diagnosis, repair or advise as required to support the On-Call Engineer and carry out necessary works outside normal hours with additional remuneration.
* Install or repair plumbing tasks such as repairing/unblocking toilets, showers, sinks, etc.
* Assist in supervising contractors and sub-contractors and ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
* Manage workload to ensure all works are completed on time and in line with KPIs; extend jobs as required following correct procedures.
* Ensure compliance documentation, files and auditing tools are maintained; close out reactive calls within contractual timescales.
* Record faults and works accurately on worksheets and computer-based systems; undertake any ad hoc duties assigned by the line manager.
* Maintain equipment, plant, rooms and services in a safe, clean and secure condition.
* Attend training as required to enable you to carry out duties to the best of your ability and upskill as needed.
Qualifications, knowledge, skills & experience
* Time served apprenticeships with the relevant qualification; relevant gas qualifications including COCN1, CCN1, TPCP1, TPCP1A, CODNCO1 and a full UK Driving License and relevant experience.
* Ability to develop excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and the on-site team; confident in building relationships.
* Flexible and adaptable in approach; solution-focused as workload dictates; good PC skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Adobe).
* Professional Certificate in Health and Safety (ISOH or NEBOSH) is desirable (training may be provided).
* Literacy and numerical skills; organized with excellent time management.
* Trade qualification and knowledge of the FM Hard Services industry; knowledge of statutory compliance is advantageous.
Experience
* Proven background in a similar environment; trade qualifications essential.
