Job description
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Facilities Management Technical Specialist to help manage facilities operations efficiently at Nationwide House. In this role, you will work closely with the facilities team, serving as the public face of Nationwide, providing support to colleagues, contractors, and visitors at our Head Office.
You will engage with individuals across all levels of the organisation, influencing behaviours to enhance the workplace experience for employees. This position is key in ensuring a welcoming, professional, and seamless environment for everyone entering Nationwide House. Through exceptional customer service and workplace support, you will help create a space where guests and colleagues feel valued and well-supported.
Working hours will be 40 hrs per week operating between the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday
The role will be based at Nationwide House Pipers Way, Swindon SN3 1TX office 5 days a week, due to it being operational role we couldn't allow hybrid working

What you'll be doing
As a key member within the Facilities Service Team, you'll be resolving day to day employees' enquiries, issues and complaints, escalating as appropriate, and deal with any service recovery.
Within this role you will be working in a static location where you will be completing planned and reactive maintenance ensuing the building is meeting compliance and governance obligations. You'll also be required to complete other facility maintenance duties as required. Carrying out daily maintenance within set budgets and across a variety of trades. This will include planned and reactive maintenance, keeping accurate maintenance logs and records.
Ensuring work is carried out to the highest possible standards in a clean, safe and orderly manner across the whole of the site.
Ensuring that all machinery and equipment comply with the Health and Safety regulations and that all maintenance in carried out using Safe Systems of Work.
Supporting other Engineers when attending breakdowns - ensuring that there is always a rapid response and that plant equipment and machinery breakdown time is minimised. Always endeavour to reduce downtime of site plant and machinery.
Undertaking unsupervised maintenance tasks ensuring all procedures are followed.
Carrying out maintenance or supporting engineers in Low Risk, High Care and High-Risk environments, always adhering to technical procedures and Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP)
Liaise effectively with and supervise external maintenance contractors and ensure that they follow Health and Safety standards. Option to join the on-call rota system and for overtime payments.
About you
You'll be a key member to the site-based team at our HQ building and will report into the Lead Engineer on site. We are looking for a person who will be willing to complete tasks that may not be maintenance linked working as one team to provide the most effective and efficient resolution to any challenges they may face.
* A maintenance technician, with electrical qualifications
* City & Guilds Electrical level 3 or equivalent qualification
* Experience of building services operating and maintenance of HVAC, UPS, Generators and BMS systems
* Good understanding & knowledge of maintenance processes and legislation
* Flexible working availability to ensure business requirements are met
* Take ownership in your role, fostering entrepreneurial spirit and celebrate initiative -taking
* Full UK Driving license
* Computer literate – MS office applications
* Knowledge and understanding of identifying and managing risk
* Organisation skills to prioritise demands and business requirements
