We are recruiting for a Head of System Engineering to define and drive the architecture of next-generation wireless systems at a pioneering UK technology company specialising in advanced connectivity for high-speed transport and defence applications.
This is a high-impact, strategic leadership role at the heart of product innovation shaping end-to-end system performance across radio, baseband, MAC and networking layers to power ultra-secure, ultra-low-latency wireless networks in some of the most demanding environments globally.
The Opportunity
As Head of System Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in defining the system-level architecture of our wireless products across radio, baseband, MAC and networking layers. Reporting to the COO, this is a highly influential position combining hands-on technical leadership with strategic direction.
You will:
* Own and define system architecture for wifi mobility mesh networks
* Translate customer, commercial and mission requirements into engineering specifications
* Model system performance (link budgets, routing, mobility behaviour)
* Guide hardware, firmware and software teams to deliver optimised, validated systems
* Collaborate with product and commercial teams to position our solutions effectively
* Lead and mentor a growing team of system engineers and architects
About You
You have:
* 10+ years’ experience in wireless systems engineering, RF architecture or communication system design
* Deep knowledge of technologies such as Wi-Fi, 4G/5G, private networks or mmWave
* Proven success delivering complex wireless products from concept to market
* Expertise in system modelling, performance verification and architecture definition
* Experience in defence, rail, tactical communications or high-availability networks (advantageous)
* Leadership capability to influence, mentor and shape future technology direction
