Are you a proactive and passionate Registered Veterinary Nurse ready for your next move? At Hawkedon & Homefield Vets, we’re on the lookout for an enthusiastic and self-motivated nurse to strengthen our team. If you’re looking for a role where you’ll be supported, trusted, and given the chance to actually use your full skillset, keep reading.
Role Details
This is a varied role where no two days are quite the same. You’ll rotate through ops nursing, consults, pharmacy, reception, and inpatient care. We believe in making the most of our nurses’ capabilities, so you’ll be hands-on and central to the team from day one.
We’re open to full or part-time hours - the role is 30 to 40 hours per week across 3 or 4 days. There’s also a 1 in 5 Saturday morning rota, working 8:30am to 2:00pm. You’ll mainly be based at our Hawkedon branch, with occasional shifts at our Homefield site, so a bit of flexibility is appreciated.
Work Schedule
Shifts are spread across the week and vary in length depending on your total hours and working days - typically between 6 to 10 hours. Our opening hours are 8am to 7pm, so your shifts will fall within that window.
About the Practice
We’re a two-branch clinic with a close-knit, supportive team. Hawkedon is a quiet village setting, while Homefield Road is a purpose-built, modern site in Bury St Edmunds that opened in 2009. Both locations are well-equipped and designed to offer the best possible care to our clients and their pets.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll need to be a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a proactive attitude, a solid work ethic, and the confidence to work independently when needed. Experience in a first-opinion setting is preferred, and a willingness to work across both sites is essential.
Why Join Us?
We’re serious about development and empowering our nurses. You’ll be encouraged to pursue areas of interest through CPD and supported to grow within a practice that genuinely values its team.
