What Your Day Looks Like
As an Architectural Technician, you will be involved in the preparation and submission of major planning applications in line with the Region’s budget. You will have the pleasure of seeing these developments come to life and ultimately become people’s homes. Key Responsibilities
* Review working drawings for bespoke house types and adapt standard house type drawings in accordance with agreed planning drawings.
* Prepare external works and other bespoke site plans to aid tender, construction or planning condition discharge.
* Liaise with site and head office regarding queries relating to planning drawings and working drawing requests.
* Handle site queries when they arise.
* Liaise with structural engineers and other third‑party consultants regarding working drawing matters.
* Prepare planning applications and deliver planning permissions in conjunction with the Planning & Land and Design & Technical Team.
* Feed into site appraisals for the Land Team, providing layouts and planning advice through consultants and other third parties.
* Prepare local plan representations.
* Discharge planning conditions and Section 106 obligations.
* Provide ad‑hoc advice on planning matters within the region as required.
* Ultimately run specific sites on own account.
* Liaise externally with planning departments, land agents and landowners.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
* Previous experience in a Design and Technical Department in a residential background or new‑build house‑builder.
* Minimum HNC in construction or related subject.
* IT literate with capability to use Excel, Word and database packages.
* Ability to use AutoCAD.
* 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) grade 4 or above including math and English.
