About the Role

Join us as a Recovery Worker in Argyll and Bute - Job Description/Person Specification .

Are you a compassionate and motivated individual who wants to change people’s lives? Our team in Argyll and Bute is looking for a Recovery Worker to join them on a part time basis working either 22.5 or 30 hours per week covering the Oban area. If you are enthusiastic, creative and passionate about helping others, we’d love to hear from you.

As a leading charity supporting people with drug, alcohol, and mental health challenges, we operate over 80 services across England and Scotland, providing free and confidential support to more than 100,000 people each year. Find out more about us on our website.

Job Opportunity

As a Recovery Worker, we offer a starting salary of £25,000 per annum pro rata, rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, to £30,000 per annum pro rata. For further details please reach out to a member of the recruitment team via recruitment@wearewithyou.org.uk.

We are looking for a part-time Recovery Worker to join our team to cover Oban and the surrounding areas. In this role, you will be on the front lines, providing vital support to people and families affected by drug and alcohol use. Your goal will be to help keep people live safely and support them in making positive changes in their lives.

Our wider team travels across all of Argyll and Bute to meet people where they are, supporting anyone aged 18 and over. We work closely with the NHS and local charities to make sure people get the help they need. Our service is highly valued by the people we support, who often tell us they appreciate our high quality of care and our deeply committed staff.

If you are passionate about helping people affected by alcohol or drug use, this is the role for you. Recovery Workers are the heart of our service; we'll provide the support and training you need to thrive.

This is a hybrid role involving in-person appointments, group sessions, and video calls. You will manage a caseload of individuals and families, and assist with assessments. While you will work independently, you are never alone—you will be backed by a supportive team and consistent management guidance.

Your Skills: You are a great communicator who builds trust easily. You understand how substance use affects a person's whole life, and you can stay calm and focused in difficult situations. You are organized, flexible, and eager to learn.

Requirements: You are confident using computers and digital systems. While a driving license and car are helpful, they are not essential. An SVQ Level 3 is preferred, but we welcome applicants with relevant experience who are willing to work toward this qualification.

Lived Experience: At WithYou, we value the unique perspective and hope that those with personal experience of recovery bring to our team. We strongly encourage "experts by experience" to apply.

Contract: 22.5 or 30 hours per week (Monday–Friday), to be agreed upon after the interview. This is a fixed-term role until 31/05/2027.

Secondments: We welcome applicants from partner organisations looking for a temporary move to broaden their skills.
