The Drainage Design Engineer role:
The company is committed to expanding its presence in Derby. They seek ambitious, talented, and motivated individuals to help drive the business forward. The role involves providing Flood Risk Assessments, drainage, and highway infrastructure design for various development projects, supporting project managers, and ensuring high-quality, innovative solutions.
Specific responsibilities include:
1. Producing technical reports such as Flood Risk Assessments, Technical Notes, and Drainage Strategy reports.
2. Developing technical highway and drainage designs supporting S104, S38, and S278 applications.
3. Undertaking technical assessments for new developments.
4. Explaining technical concepts to colleagues and clients.
5. Checking outputs, drawings, and reports produced by junior staff.
6. Preparing or supervising presentations and delivering information to internal and external groups.
7. Managing projects with moderate supervision, ensuring timely and high-standard delivery.
8. Providing project updates and liaising with clients and project managers.
9. Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
10. Staying updated on industry trends and best practices in infrastructure engineering and construction.
Requirements:
* A degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
* Minimum 3 years’ UK experience in development-related infrastructure engineering.
* Knowledge of relevant design standards such as DMRB, Manual for Streets, Sewers for Adoption, local road standards, and planning policies.
* Experience in highway and drainage design, including S38, S278, and S104 processes.
* Proficiency in writing flood risk assessments and drainage strategy reports.
* Knowledge of drainage design principles and experience with Microdrainage and/or Causeway flow software.
* Excellent communication and writing skills.
* Motivated, enthusiastic, and committed to career development.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Power BI and Access is a plus.
* Experience with AutoCAD and Civils 3D.
* Full UK driving license, as site visits may be required.
