The Vacancy
Job Purpose:
This is a key position responsible for planned and reactive maintenance across multiple site locations. You will be the first point of contact for all service and maintenance activities at your assigned sites.
Your duties include maintaining, servicing, and repairing refrigeration equipment in customer locations and assisting with HVAC systems containing refrigeration circuits. The engineering team provides 24-hour service coverage throughout the year, utilizing planned and extended working hours, including standby rota participation.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Prioritize maintenance and repair work to meet specified timescales and response times.
2. Identify faults that cannot be repaired on-site and promptly advise the Line Manager with recommendations for replacements.
3. Complete PPM schedules within agreed timeframes and ensure all documentation is accurate and complies with procedures.
4. Maintain all technical and compliance paperwork up to date.
5. Participate in out-of-hours standby rota and communicate cover requirements due to holidays or unforeseen circumstances.
6. Be aware of relevant regulations and codes of practice.
7. Order and install parts or components as per company procedures.
8. Notify the helpdesk upon completion of tasks.
9. Inform GSMs of any issues affecting store operations and foster good relationships with all GSMs.
10. Respond promptly to service requests from the Helpdesk, assess job requirements, and carry out necessary repairs.
11. Conduct surveys and prepare reports as required by the refrigeration supervisor/RFM.
12. Ensure all work is performed to high standards, efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with health and safety policies.
13. Complete tasks within designated timeframes to the satisfaction of the company and client.
14. Communicate effectively through written and verbal reports and records.
15. Attend training courses as necessary to keep skills up to date with technical and business developments.
16. Complete all mandatory online training modules.
17. Adhere to Health and Safety at Work Act and company policies.
18. Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain quality standards.
19. Represent the company professionally and develop good working relationships with clients and colleagues.
20. Follow additional instructions from the City Management Team as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Time Served Apprenticeship
* NVQ/C&G Refrigeration Qualification
* Approved Training Program
* Refrigerant Handling C&G 2079 or equivalent CITB certificate
* Skill Card
* Knowledge of Refrigeration, Electrical, Air Conditioning, and Mechanical systems
* Good communication skills (written and verbal)
* Ability to work at heights and use access equipment proficiently
* Valid full driving license
* Availability for out-of-hours work
* GCSEs or equivalent
* Knowledge of future legislation: BS7671 (IEE 16/17th), BSEN 378 (BS4434)
