Starting Salary: £27,933 WTE pro rata, per annum (based on 37.5 hours per week) (rising to Step 2 £28,998 following review & satisfactory performance). Qualified Trades person Starting Salary: £30,393 WTE pro rata, per annum (based on 37.5 hours per week) (rising to Step 2 £31,670 following review & satisfactory performance). Additional Benefits: Unsocial Hours Payment of approx. £3,000 (WTE) per annum and an On Call Allowance of approx. £1,700 (WTE) per annum + Pension + Benefits. Permanent / Full Time Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Sunday (working a 5 over 7 rota).

Do you have a passion for maintenance and want to use your skills for a greater purpose? St Columba’s Hospice is looking for Facilities & Maintenance Stewards to help us maintain a peaceful and supportive environment for our patients and their families. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a team that ensures every aspect of our premises, from the main hospice to our charity retail shops, is functioning perfectly.
The Role
In this role you will contribute to the maintenance of Hospice estates, to maintain optimum environmental, accommodation and support service standards within the Hospice guidelines, safety standards and budgetary constraints. Responsibilities will include:
* Help maintain and repair a wide range of buildings, equipment and systems.
* Diagnose and resolve technical problems across a broad spectrum of equipment, including HVAC, lifts, alarms, and generators.
* Join a small, friendly team that works collaboratively to manage the day-to-day facilities operations.
* From medical equipment to office moves, you\'ll help keep our facilities running smoothly.
We\'re looking for someone who
* Has a strong technical background in maintenance, with the ability to work confidently on diverse systems.
* Is compassionate, discreet, and understands the sensitive nature of our hospice environment.
* Is a reliable team player who is comfortable working with both colleagues and external contractors.
* Thrives on variety and enjoys the challenge of a role where no two days are the same.
* Has a valid driving license

This post requires the post holder to have a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme membership record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post. A joint application will be made which the Hospice will pay for.
