Job Description
West Dunbartonshire Council is seeking four enthusiastic Social Workers to join our newly formed Children and Families Access, Help and Support team.
The team will be part of the wider Children and Families service, providing a pathway for families to access longer-term support. Responsibilities include managing new referrals, screening, making enquiries, providing advice, undertaking initial assessments, safety planning, and child protection duties. You will collaborate with colleagues across children's services and liaise with partners such as Health, Police, and Education.
We are looking for social workers committed to improving children's lives, able to work in a fast-paced environment, assess risks, prioritize demands, use professional judgment, and work effectively with external partners.
This is an exciting opportunity for experienced social workers to develop a new service. The team comprises 2 senior social workers and 8 social workers, with support through supervision, caseload management, and training, including age assessments and the Scottish Child Interview Model (SCIM).
Applicants must hold a DipSw or equivalent social work qualification, be registered with the SSSC, and be willing to obtain/maintain PVG scheme membership. Experience in Children and Families Social Work and child protection investigations is preferred.

Requirements
This post involves Regulated Work with Children and Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Membership with the PVG scheme is essential, and applicants should be prepared to join or update their PVG membership before employment.
Responsibilities
The employment is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants must disclose all convictions, including spent ones, as failure to do so could lead to dismissal.
