Job Description:
Engineering Manager – Salisbury (Hybrid) – £85,000 + Benefits
Lead a High-Impact Engineering Team Building the Future of Flight
If you're a natural people leader with a mechanical or aerospace background, this is your opportunity to step into a role where your primary mission is to get the best out of others.
This isn’t about being the most technical person in the room - it’s about building trust, guiding talented engineers, and helping a diverse team thrive under pressure while delivering high-impact aerospace projects. You’ll be leading one of two multi-disciplinary design teams focused on developing innovative uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) from the ground up … and you’ll have the autonomy to shape how that happens.
Why This Role?
* People-first leadership: Your focus will be developing and mentoring engineers with varied personalities, experience levels, and specialisms.
* A growing team, ripe for influence: With new investment and ambitious growth plans, this is your chance to define the culture and shape delivery.
* Real engineering, real outcomes: From early-stage concept through to manufacturing and live flight, you’ll oversee full lifecycle development.
* Hybrid working in a purpose-built environment: Three days a week onsite in rural Wiltshire, surrounded by innovation and support.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Managing, mentoring and motivating a team of engineers across disciplines (structural, mechanical, or aero etc)
* Developing team leaders and supporting career progression through coaching and feedback
* Leading planning, resourcing and delivery efforts across UAS (or similar engineering) programmes
* Supporting technical delivery and ensuring compliance through best-practice processes
* Representing the team in front of customers and suppliers, and supporting recruitment when needed
* Creating a positive culture that champions collaboration, accountability, and growth
Who You Are
You’ve led engineering teams before - ideally in aerospace, defence, or another highly regulated sector - and you know how to balance people development with delivery pressures. Whether your background is in structures, aero, or mechanical, you're comfortable engaging with multi-disciplinary teams, helping them navigate complexity, and removing blockers to success.
Above all, you believe in the value of good leadership and you take pride in building strong teams, not just strong products.
Ready to lead from the front in a company shaping the future of aerospace?
