An opportunity exists in the service for a Waste & Cleansing Officer working from our Depot at Newton Bar, Wakefield.
What will be expected from me?
The post holder will lead frontline Street Scene Teams to deliver a high quality citizen focused outward facing services within the Wakefield district. The postholder as part of their role will :-
1. Manage the day-to-day operations of our frontline services i.e., Refuse Collection and Street Cleansing.
2. Be self-motivated and remain focused in pressure situations.
3. Be an effective communicator across a broad scope of stakeholders i.e., Workforce, Managers, General Public, Customers, Elected Members.
4. Create operational reports relevant to the area of responsibility.
5. Will display resilient characteristics and be able to motivate other team members and colleagues.
What I might be doing?
6. The post will support the Management Team to provide frontline operational services for the citizens of Wakefield district.
7. The postholder will work with and support the Management Team to ensure the effective delivery of services and good working relationships across the service.
8. The management of teams to ensure that allocated resources are efficiently deployed to deliver the objectives in line with requirement of the Service Business Plan and the Council's strategic priorities.
9. The post holder has line management responsibility for up to 75 front line staff, 1 x Supervisor, 1 x Street Scene Co-Ordinator and 1x Admin Assistant.
10. To work closely with other Officers and Managers in determining the operational priorities of our services.
11. Ensure operational delivery of services are in line with service level agreements, service standards and meet the expectations of service recipients.
Essential requirements:
12. NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in supervisory management within two years of appointment.
13. Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) National Road Haulage or obtain within 12 months of appointment.
14. Full current driving licence (Category C1) with a maximum of 6 penalty points.
15. Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or equivalent within 12 months.
