To provide efficient support to the Senior Medical Secretaries within the department. This will include typing of patient correspondence, investigations, dealing with telephone queries from patients and other NHS professionals. Covering for senior colleagues at times of leave.
This will require a well organised individual with good communication skills and a team player.
General Surgery offers a friendly and well supported environment to work. The department works as a team with many of our medical secretaries having worked in the department for any years. You would work as part of a strong team of 10 senior medical secretaries and one other support secretary.
To support the senior medical secretaries in their day to day roles. This will include, typing of correspondence, dealing with patients' and other NHS professionals queries both internally and externally. Matching investigations with clinical notes for consultant review and dictation. Any other duties deemed necessary by the senior medical secretaries, Business Support Manager.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, flexible and well organised individual to join our friendly General Surgery Team as Support Medical Secretary.
The successful applicant will require previous Medical Secretary experience in a healthcare environment and have excellent organisational and communication skills. You will be able to cope well under pressure and have a good understanding of the patient pathway. You should enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team and be confident liaising with patients, medical staff, general practitioners and referring hospitals.
The post holder will be expected to organise their workload and duties accordingly, in such a way to make a direct and positive contribution to the service, exercising initiative and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Disability Confident.
