What you will be doing
* Live the Balfour Beatty Values and maintain a relentless focus on Zero Harm.
* Support the delivery of CSUK’s Sustainability activities.
* Motivate the team and manage performance; monitor competency and provide training/coaching as appropriate.
Health, Safety & Environmental
* Review Method Statements and Risk Assessments and implement improvements as appropriate.
* Lead accident/incident investigations (HFACS and Four Page Report).
* Perform trend analysis from audits and near misses to identify improvement areas.
* Conduct field audits and confirm sufficiency of control documentation.
* Produce and implement Permits to Work, including Confined Space and Hot Works Permits.
* Have a strong understanding of temporary works and implementation timescales.
Engineering Control
* Guide and coach subordinates in technical requirements and setting out techniques.
* Advise on resolution of construction issues using best practice and experience.
Quality
* Own the process of production, checking, and submission of handover documentation.
* Implement systems to support construction in accordance with specifications (Materials Approval, NCR, Handover Documentation).
* Analyse trends for non-conformance and business improvement; conduct Independent Inspections and Site Audits.
* Coach less experienced staff and liaise with designers to resolve technical issues.
Commercial
* Maintain accurate project diary and communications with subcontractors.
* Prepare budgets from the resourced programme and monitor weekly costs.
* Involved in procurement and management of subcontractors; understand cost and value.
Productivity
* Produce a fully resourced stage programme and monitor KPI compliance.
* Develop graphical monitors of production to support intervention decisions.
* Ensure section programme aligns with the three-weekly programme.
Drafts
* Draft correspondence to subcontractors, suppliers and the client as required.
Who we’re looking for
* Clear communication of safe systems of work; suggest and implement improvements.
* Ability to own tasks, communicate outcomes, and lead a team to ensure tasks are carried out effectively.
* Strong work ethic, flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights; own initiative; current driving license and CSCS card; SSSTS or SMSTS qualified.
* Excellent teamwork and independent working capability; strong communication and influencing skills; solution-oriented approach.
* Commitment to developing team members and aligning behaviours with project objectives.
Health, Safety & Environmental (Qualification focus)
* Understand method statements and risk assessments; develop safe systems of work.
* Knowledge of accident/incident investigation principles and current H&S legislation.
Engineering Control (Qualification focus)
* Full understanding of technical requirements for setting out and coaching the team; allocate resources; track record of issue resolution.
Quality (Qualification focus)
* Understand organisational management systems and handover requirements, including certification.
Productivity (Qualification focus)
* Ability to produce a fully resourced stage programme and measure KPIs; knowledge of construction processes in Earthworks/Drainage, Pavement, Comms, Structures, Roadworks.
Commercial (Qualification focus)
* Awareness of procurement practices; experience in producing detailed records and correspondence for commercial recovery.
