Role Responsibility

We offer a competitive salary starting at £26,515, along with a staff benefits package and excellent career development opportunities within an expanding service for UAS children. No two days are the same.

Kent County Council's Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking (UAS) Children's Service provides accommodation and support to newly arrived unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in Kent. The Service leads on social work practice with these children, which Ofsted recognises as Outstanding. It is developing as a centre of excellence nationally, and we are seeking passionate individuals to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our Reception Centre team. The Reception and Safe Care Services are Kent County Council owned, Ofsted regulated children's homes and supported accommodation, collectively called Reception Centres. These centres are operated by a diverse team committed to protecting children and supporting their journey to more permanent homes in the UK.

We are looking for Reception Centre Workers with experience working with children who thrive on direct support and working in residential settings. Candidates should have strong communication skills, be innovative, and passionate about their work. This role involves managing routines, setting goals for young people, maintaining timekeeping, and fostering a learning environment. It is crucial for UAS children during their early stages in the UK.

If you are enthusiastic about working with adolescents, understand the UAS children's journey, and want to help achieve the best outcomes, please apply.

This position requires working across a rolling shift pattern, with weekly alternating shifts, including regular weekend coverage.

Our Offer

* Full induction
* Training and development opportunities
* Basic salary between £26,515 and £28,850
* Annual leave of 27 days (29 days after 5 years of service)
* Relocation packages up to £8,000
* Excellent local government pension scheme
* Opportunities for career development
* Chance to expand knowledge in niche areas of social work and working with children seeking asylum

This role is considered a customer-facing position under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016). The Council requires applicants to demonstrate proficiency in spoken English/Welsh for effective job performance, as per the standards outlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This position is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Applicants must hold a Full UK Driving Licence. The Council is committed to reasonable adjustments; therefore, if you are unable to drive due to a disability, your application will still be considered.
