Your new companyYou will be joining a well-established and highly respected civil engineering contractor based in Birmingham recognised for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across the Midlands. This multi-accredited contractor is well-known for their commitment to quality, safety and innovation as well as valuing its people and investing in their professional development. They have a strong pipeline of work, offer excellent opportunities for career progression and, as part of their continued growth, they are actively seeking a Senior Site Engineer to join their delivery team.
This is a full-time permanent position based in the Solihull area.
Your new roleAs Senior Site Engineer, you will take technical ownership of key civils elements on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately and in line with programme and specification. Working closely with the Project Manager, Site Manager and design teams, you will act as a technical lead, mentoring junior engineers while driving best practice across setting out, quality assurance and coordination.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing and overseeing all setting out activities for major civils works
* Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and quality standards
* Coordinating subcontractors and monitoring progress against programme
* Carrying out technical checks, inspections and quality documentation
* Supporting temporary works, method statements and risk assessments
* Mentoring and supporting Site and Graduate Engineers
* Maintaining a strong focus on health, safety and environmental standards.
This is a hands-on, leadership-focused role offering real influence over site delivery and engineering outcomes.
What you'll need to succeedIn order to excel in this role, you will bring:
* A degree/HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related field (or experience equivalent)
* Proven experience as a Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer on civils or infrastructure projects
* Strong setting out and surveying skills using GPS, Total Station and AutoCAD
* Experience managing subcontractors and mentoring junior engineers
* A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong communication skills
* CSCS (essential), SSSTS/SMSTS (desirable) and a full UK driving licence (essential).
