About the role:
We are seeking an experienced HGV Trainer to deliver inhouse training to a cohort of c50 employed HGV Drivers, apprentice HGV drivers, new C1's and Shunter Drivers and plant operators (forklift, Terberg).
Candidates wishing to relocate to the Scottish Highlands may be eligible for temporary onsite accommodation (not suitable for family members) to support their permanent relocation efforts.
The Driver Instructor role includes the identification and delivery of inhouse, and potentially online, Driver skills development.
You will lead on Driver Induction Training for new recruits, + overall training responsibility for inhouse CPC, CPD and & Driver skills refresher train.
The role is Ideally suited to a full time candidate, however part-time candidate applicants with a strong skill set are invited
Ferguson Transport & Shipping employs c160 staff, with its Head Office, Logistics Hub and vehicle maintenance facility in Corpach, Fort William and driver bases in Grangemouth, Methil, Inverness, Invergordon and Mallaig.
Driver and Transport Office staff training is generally carried out at our Logistics Hub in Fort William, however travel to our various driver hubs will be required to fulfil the needs of the role; with use of a company car for business use.
The successful candidate must have excellent knowledge and experience of working within the haulage industry. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint is also required. Being highly organised with good administration skills is essential along with being adaptable to change.
About you:
Previous experience in a similar role or relevant qualification within this field
LGV C+E licence and a Certificate of Professional Competence in national Road Haulage Operations (preferred)
Knowledge of MS Office; particularly Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
Confident, professional manner;
Strong organisational skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Excellent attention to detail
Main Responsibilities (list not exhaustive):
Supporting the Transport Directors, you will escalate any issues that occur during delivery of inductions and training.
Apply expert knowledge through training to ensure all drivers follow company standard operating procedures, improve driving technique, fuel efficiency, and reduce accident rates.
Carry out accident/incident investigation and report writing.
Keep up to date with DVSA working practices, including Earned Recognition
Implement a training programme based on the SAFED principles with a view to reducing the overall fuel consumption of the fleet.
Set up and maintain the company registration as a training provider with the JAUPT, write, develop and deliver CPC course suitable for the business needs and external parties.
Set up and maintain the company registration as a training provider with the SQA, develop and deliver ADR course suitable for the business needs and external parties.
Work alongside HR and the Transport Managers to recruit LGV Drivers, from reviewing applications, to interview and driver assessments.
Conduct a programme of Behaviour Based Safety Training with ADR training provider.
Support the EU & RTWTD analyst with tachograph analysis and managing driver's hours.
Write and develop internal training programmes to suit individual progression plans and the needs of the business - including HGV driver training, forklift, plant and machinery (where deemed competent
