Applications are invited for a fixed term Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine, to join an established team providing specialised rehabilitation within the Royal Stoke University Hospital (RSUH) and Haywood Hospitals.
The post is based at Haywood Hospital, but the main duties are on the hyper‑acute rehabilitation unit at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust, as well as in outpatient clinics within the host organisation, Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust (MPFT).
Main Duties
* Work with colleagues to provide a comprehensive specialised Rehabilitation Medicine service across the two hospital sites.
* Provide leadership and consultant cover to the inpatient specialist rehabilitation unit (ARTU) with shared responsibility for patients as named consultant.
* Conduct comprehensive, specialist rehabilitation assessments of referred patients.
* Support spasticity outpatient clinics, including administration of botulinum toxin injections.
* Take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.
* Ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.
* Provide cover for consultant colleagues during periods of leave and abide by the leave policy.
* Ensure adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in patient care to contact the consultant when necessary.
Qualifications
Applicants must have full GMC Registration and should be either on or within 6 months of entry onto the Specialist Register at the time of interview.
