Responsibilities
* Team Support & Motivation: Work closely with the Transport Manager to lead and inspire the transport team, ensuring optimal use of staff and assets.
* Operational Leadership: Own daily transport operations including dispatch, debriefs and managing work in progress.
* Planning Collaboration: Partner with the planner to develop daily and weekly transport plans.
* Customer Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with the customer's on-site team.
* Driver Oversight & Debriefs: Support and manage drivers, ensuring efficient use of vehicles and routes.
* Reporting & Insights: Provide regular updates to the Transport Manager.
* Health & Safety Leadership: Monitor and audit health and safety practices.
* Communication Hub: Act as a central point of contact for queries and updates.
* KPI & Data Management: Assist in generating daily performance metrics and statistics.
* Compliance & Incident Response: Contribute to compliance planning and respond swiftly to breakdowns.
* Team Culture & Collaboration: Foster a positive, collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
* Previous experience working in a transport environment, including knowledge of Working Time Directive and EU driver's hours.
* Strong communication skills at all levels.
* Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
* Critical attention to detail and ability to meet daily deadlines.
* Able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
* Proficiency in MS Office packages, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Compensation & Benefits
* Competitive Salary: £32,000 - £35,000 per annum.
* Hours: 18:00hrs – 06:00hrs, based on a 4on 4off shift basis.
