Pharmacy Technician (Primary Care)
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Northumbria Primary Care for an increase in our Band 4 Registered Pharmacy Technician teams, supporting a group of GP practices within a neighbourhood footprint.
The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive primary care medicines management system acting on current best practice. The Pharmacy Technician will be required to undertake activities predominantly within practice, but will need to be flexible to work to the wider demands of the network.
Build an efficient and effective delivery of medicines to patients, including medicines supply, actioning of discharge summary medication changes, liaising with care homes regarding prescription queries, and supporting the organisation’s move towards online prescription services. An understanding of primary care operations and use of SystmOne is an advantage but not essential.
Appointees will have a nominated base site within NPC, this vacancy is for Rothbury. As a large multi‑site organisation, we offer cross‑site support and the opportunity to work flexibly across our practices, including evening and weekend working where required.

Job responsibilities
* Work under the management of Pharmacists, Executive GPs and practice Managers within the neighbourhood footprint, delivering a comprehensive medicines management service.
* Ensure a safe and efficient service is maintained, delivering activities including medicines reconciliation and repeat prescription requests.
* Liaise with pharmacy staff in all sectors and other healthcare professionals to ensure a patient‑orientated medicines management service is provided, conducting medicines reviews for patients identified by the wider multidisciplinary team or from other medicines management initiatives.
* Work closely with Clinical Pharmacists and GPs to adopt a team approach to medicines management, acting as a key member of the multidisciplinary team and providing medicines management advice to healthcare professionals, patients and carers.
* Develop and undertake medicines management audits, support discussion within the practice and agree subsequent actions.
* Role‑model compassionate and inclusive leadership to shape a collective leadership culture within Northumbria Primary Care, demonstrating a consistent leadership style that engages, enables and empowers others, uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement, and facilitates team working and collaboration across organisational boundaries.
Qualifications / Professional Registration
* BTEC in pharmaceutical science or NVQ Level 3 supported by appropriate underpinning knowledge (e.g. national certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent qualification).
* Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* An appropriate accredited technician checking qualification.
* Working towards CPPE PCPEP qualification.
Experience and knowledge
* Previous relevant experience working in hospital, community or primary care pharmacy settings.
* Evidence of personal insight and sound judgment.
* Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools.
* Knowledge of or experience in quality improvement tools, techniques and methods.
Other requirements
* Valid driving licence and either a car that can be used for work purposes or the use of the Trust personal lease vehicle. The Trust will consider reasonable adjustments to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.

Salary
£28,392 to £31,157 a year pro‑rata per annum.
