We're looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will be working in a fast paced retail environment where no day is the same. You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, co-ordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations. As the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will be constantly looking for ways to improve service in your store through on the job coaching and feedback. You will have a great understanding of how your store is performing and be the specialist in delivering practical actions for its improvement by taking a hands on approach. With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community
* Open/close the store and complete duty cover, ensuring decisions are right for customers, colleagues, and safety
* Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for day-to-day operational queries
* Support the Store Manager to coordinate seasonal, community and charity events, creating a great inclusive atmosphere
* Ensure the store is clean, tidy, and well presented
* Prioritise replenishment of products that matter to customers
* Ensure point of sale and shelf edge labels reflect what good looks like
* Take immediate action for any overcharges and prevent reoccurrence
* Proactively manage queues in store to deliver a great shopping trip for customers
* Coordinate colleagues, ensuring they deliver daily priorities and have breaks at the right times
* Be knowledgeable about the store, coordinating others to deliver practical actions for improvements
* Follow company health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same
* Deliver clear communication to the team and keep colleagues well informed
* Look for ways to simplify operations and share ideas with the Store Manager
* Put the customer first in everything you do and adapt service to meet needs
* Resolve customer queries promptly and leave customers satisfied
* Assist in resolving or escalating colleague queries in the Store Manager's absence
* Ensure appropriate staffing, manage short-term absences/sickness by arranging cover
* Act as a recognised Keyholder and attend alarm call-outs as needed
* Monitor internal communications and keep colleagues informed
* Coordinate to meet customer and store needs, feeding back issues to the Store Manager
* Balance time between service and replenishment areas
* Support the Store Manager in managing absence and conduct return-to-work interviews where applicable
* Build relationships with Area Manager and People Partner; seek advice and coaching as needed
