What you will do:
- Recruit, train, assess, supervise, and support foster carers in their vital role of looking after children and young people
- Ensure the highest professional standards and maintain comprehensive knowledge of relevant children's and fostering legislation, regulations, and practice methods
- Provide a supportive and efficient service to children, young people, their families, and fostering families, ensuring professional assessment of their needs
- Investigate, evaluate, and analyse information on cases, demonstrating clarity of assessment, reliable information, and realistic action plans
- Develop a holistic practice that considers the individual's immediate and extended social circles and overall development needs
- Ensure casework and foster care services comply with statutory requirements, fostering regulations, and council policies
- Complete investigations, enquiries, and assessments to high professional standards within agreed timescales
- Utilise ICT effectively to maintain adequate case recording as per service procedures
- Ensure all case management meets statutory requirements and the council’s policies and procedures
Requirements:
- Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent
- GSCC Registration
- Knowledge of child protection and issues affecting children looked after
- Understanding of methods of social work intervention, relevant legislation, and regulations
- Familiarity with the framework for the assessment of children in need and their families
- Experience in multi-disciplinary working and with foster carers
