Overview

Agriculture Manager – £45,000 to £50,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 6A). Manchester City Centre. This role is hybrid, with time split between home and the office. For details on our hybrid working policy, please refer to colleagues.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy.

We’re looking for an Agriculture Manager to join our Farming and Fisheries team. You’ll help ensure the responsible sourcing of products in line with our agriculture strategy, with a particular focus on pigs, poultry and eggs. You’ll build strong relationships with farmers and suppliers we partner with, travelling across the UK to meet them and representing our Co-op. You’ll support and coordinate projects to ensure sourcing standards are met and help deliver against our sustainability targets.

What you’ll do

* Focus on pig, poultry and eggs while also supporting other areas in the team.
* Work collaboratively with our farming supply chain, engaging with farmers and suppliers across our categories.
* Ensure Co-op sourcing standards are met across health, welfare, and environment.
* Help deliver Co-op’s sustainability strategies by working on a range of projects and collaborating with both internal and external teams.
* Manage a range of queries from customers and members relating to farming and provide updates around Co-op’s sustainability and welfare initiatives.
* Collect and report data on our performance against public targets and external reporting requirements.
* Support in the development of Farming and Fisheries sustainability policies.
* Collaborate with the Senior Agriculture Manager to plan, organise, and complete strategies and actively contribute to the team’s overall goals.

This role would suit people who have

* A background in agriculture or sustainability.
* An appreciation for agriculture and their supply chains.
* Previously worked with farmers, growers, or in a produce business.
* Good technical knowledge and understanding of primary productions across protein and produce, UK policy and impacts of climate change on the sector.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical subject matter to a non-technical audience.

Why Co-op?

At Co-op, we’re owned by our members. And because we’re owned by you, we can do right by you. When you join us, you’re not just taking a job – you’re joining a movement. We’re an organisation that puts people and communities first, and we’re powered by purpose. We want this to be a place where you can thrive, so you’ll also receive:

* An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance).
* 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays.
* A pension with up to 10% employer contributions.
* Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ).
* Coaching and training to support your career development.
* Wagestream app – giving you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn.

We're also part of the Disability Confident scheme, meaning we’ll always offer an interview to disabled candidates who apply through the scheme if they meet the minimum criteria for a job.

We’ll ask whether you’d like to be considered under the Disability Confident scheme when you apply. If we invite you to take part in the recruitment process for any of our jobs, we’ll ask you if you need any reasonable adjustments to enable you to participate.

You can find out more about our recruitment process at jobs.coop.co.uk/apply-process. You can find out more about the Disability Confident scheme and all our commitments to diversity and inclusion at colleagues.coop.co.uk/diversity-inclusion-and-wellbeing.
