About the role
The Assistant Library Manager is responsible for ensuring the flagship Oxford Westgate Library operates to the highest standard of customer services. The role involves assisting the Deputy Library Manager and managing a team of Customer Service Advisers to meet customer and local community needs, supporting council services within the building and ensuring customers are signposted to information and services appropriately.
The role also involves close working and line management of Customer Service Advisers supporting and delivering the Music and Performance Sets Service at Oxford Westgate Library, working with groups and neighbouring authorities to loan and manage orchestral and performance set music scores.
The working pattern will include working two evenings per week until 8pm and alternate Saturdays.
About You
We are looking for a confident and organised customer focused person with strong leadership and communication skills, who can support the delivery of high quality library services and contribute positively to a busy, community facing environment.
The successful candidate will be able to manage and motivate a team of six Customer Service Advisers, confidently undertake day to day staff management responsibilities, and support performance, development and wellbeing while maintaining excellent standards of customer service. They will also act as lead for the children's library at Oxford Westgate Library, ensuring the space is welcoming and well presented, and that a consistent and effective programme of events, activities and opportunities is delivered to engage children, families, schools and nurseries.
