About This Role

Ormiston Victory is an innovative, positive and ambitious academy which is seeking a Head of Year for Behaviour to work as part of a highly dedicated and professional team to support our students in making exceptional progress.

The successful applicant’s key role will be to work with our students to eliminate any barriers to their academic progress.

Good interpersonal skills are required together with the ability to earn and maintain the respect of students and to ensure the appropriate codes of behaviour are observed. Applicants for this post must be enthusiastic and possess a determined character which is seen as an essential part of the role, together with a positive approach to working with young people and the ability to set clear guidelines for them.

Skills

We are looking for a focused and conscientious individual, with a calm, caring and patient approach who has the relevant skills and ability to:

* De‑escalate situations and be able to support students to regulate their emotions
* Conduct restorative conversations to ensure a smooth transition into classes
* Form positive relationships, work effectively with other key staff, outside agencies and liaise with parents when necessary
* First point of contact for parents/carers
* Issue sanctions for behaviour incidents
* Attend and lead reintegration meetingsWork with staff and students to ensure they are engaged in their learning and staff feel confident to manage behaviour
* Lead Pastoral Support Plans for students where appropriate
* Monitor behaviour data in the year group and work with the rest of the year team to set interventions
* Support with pastoral check‑ins
* Work with the rest of the year team to ensure students are rewarded and recognised
* Act as the key adult that students can go to for support
* Undertake training and attend meetings as necessary
