Job Title: Commercial Director
Superior Recruitment Group has a fantastic opportunity available in Somerset for a Commercial Director.
This is a permanent position.
The Commercial Director reports directly to the Operations Director and is responsible for delivering all commercial and contractual aspects of the contract, including matters across the portfolio of contracts such as the master agreement, reporting, project controls (including planning), payments, and finance.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement the commercial strategy, ensuring alignment with internal legal entities, and setting clear goals, deliverables, targets, and objectives.
2. Provide NEC expertise and support to entities and project teams for effective understanding and use of key contractual terms.
3. Review and analyze monthly project performance reports, including validation of receivables, Work In Progress (WIP), and working capital, ensuring standardized reporting and best practices across contracts.
4. Analyze underperformance across the portfolio and develop intervention plans to mitigate risks and improve performance, including resolving disallowed costs.
5. Establish a commercial operating culture through standardized reporting, controls, and performance data, ensuring compliant and transparent contract delivery.
6. Manage and resolve disputes internally and externally across the contract portfolio promptly.
7. Ensure timely clearance of Early Warning Notices (EWNs) and Compensation Events (CEs), and manage risk register reviews.
8. Define organizational requirements, recruit, coach, train, and develop the commercial team, and facilitate clear communication across business entities.
9. Participate in performance reviews, work with teams to minimize withheld amounts monthly.
10. Review and validate rates, margin models, cash-flow forecasts, and commercial aspects of tender submissions, ensuring acceptable payment terms, Parent Company Guarantees (PCGs), bonds, and margin considerations.
11. Ensure correct application of the AFP process and timely client submissions.
12. Provide commercial leadership during new tender reviews and contract handovers, supporting operational transitions.
13. Manage client stakeholder relationships to mitigate losses and develop claim management strategies for financial recovery.
14. Collaborate with the Operations Director to develop annual budgets and accurate monthly forecasts.
15. Ensure all plans are delivered on time and in accordance with the master contract, addressing any gaps with the entities.
16. Coordinate with other Commercial Directors to manage initiatives that deliver measurable commercial benefits.
17. Conduct monthly site visits to engage with site teams, drive performance, and share lessons learned.
18. Support regional commercial managers during client audits and other activities.
19. Travel will be required, approximately 2-3 days per month, to locations in Hull, Warrington, Germany, and France.
