Classhoppa – Founding Full Stack Engineer
Location: Liverpool City Region (Hybrid – Remote‑led, one day in‑person weekly)
Term: 6 month fixed‑term (initial contract with strong intent to convert to permanent)
Hours: Full‑time (40 hours per week)
Salary: £45,000‑£50,000 per annum

The Role
We’re looking for a Founding Full‑Stack Engineer to lead and grow the technical side of ClassHoppa. You’ll own the technical roadmap and product development, influence strategic decisions, and help build a platform already showing early traction (450+ users, 375+ providers including national franchises).
Responsibilities
* Technical Leadership: Take ownership of and design the technical roadmap and architecture for the ClassHoppa platform.
* Develop internal best processes and practices for code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and deployment.
* Scale and grow the tech side as the business expands.
* Full Stack Development: Build and maintain scalable APIs and services (Node.js, Express, NestJS or similar). Develop responsive and performant front‑end interfaces (React, Next.js or similar). Manage integrations with third‑party APIs (payments, calendars, email, etc.). Oversee database design and optimization (PostgreSQL, MongoDB or similar). Evolve the UX/UI to deliver the best user experience.
* Product Ownership: Translate user feedback into platform solutions and improvements. Lead technical roadmap discussions, feature scoping and sprint planning. Ensure smooth management between design, development and QA.
* Infrastructure & DevOps: Manage and develop cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP or Azure). Implement monitoring, logging and performance optimization. Ensure platform security and data protection (important as we handle children’s data).
About You
* 5+ years of professional full‑stack development experience.
* Proven experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
* Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React and Node.js.
* Deep understanding of APIs and modern front‑end frameworks.
* Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
* Solid understanding of security best practices and GDPR compliance.
* Excellent problem‑solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
* Experience building consumer‑facing or booking/e‑commerce platforms (preferred).
* Wants to grow and scale a company with options.
