About the role
Rochdale Borough Council’s Strategic Housing Department is seeking a committed and driven Housing Project Officer to support the delivery of key housing initiatives and strategic priorities, with a focus on access into the Private Rented Sector. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our vision of delivering excellent housing services across the Borough.
The Project Officer will play a pivotal role in facilitating access into the Private Rented Sector (PRS) and developing targeted initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for the Council and residents.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a real life difference, with a knack to bridge policy and practice while working creatively to support those in housing need, and supporting homelessness prevention within our communities.
You will thrive in utilising creativity and available resources to develop innovative and effective approaches to preventing homelessness, tackle move on pressures and supporting those most at risk and in housing need.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the development, and implementation of programmes, policies, and processes that support the Council’s statutory duties around housing need. This includes responding to emerging issues and developing innovative, practical solutions.
Key responsibilities:
Increase access to suitable and affordable PRS accommodation for residents.
Develop and manage relationships with Stakeholders, including private landlords, letting agents, and our PRS Specialist Trusted Partner.
Support to develop the council’s PRS Access Strategy and Workplan, and monitoring of KPIs.
Designing and developing supporting processes and procedures, to use effectively as a homelessness prevention and relief tool.
Creating essential documentation, such training sessions for internal and external stakeholders across a range of services and organisations.
About you
You will need in-depth working knowledge of the housing and Private Rented Sector, and ability to interpret complex policy into practical and effective processes. Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, user-friendly documentation. Self-motivated, with strong project management skills and the ability to manage time and priorities effectively.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and well-rounded candidate with a strong track record of building and maintaining effective relationships. The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
