The project:

Our Transportation team is growing in Birmingham and we have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Rail team on a full-time permanent contract. As Project Manager you will represent Mace whilst interfacing with our key clients. You will ensure the successful delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives.

You’ll need to have:

1. Experience working in the Rail sector. Sound understanding of Network Rail procedures.

2. Determines and arranges project management, technical services and external resources required for the project on an individual and team basis on behalf of client organisation.

3. Collaborates with the team/s (client, design team and other consultants, and contractor) and all stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the project in line with all expectations communicating strategies to the team.

4. Demonstrates Mace's value of Safety First, exhibiting visible safety behaviours and using safety moments and Mace's HSW framework.

5. Provides subject matter knowledge to support the team(s) from the broader Mace projects and business units to assist in ensuring the best project outcome.

6. Delivers the project objectives in line with the Project Execution Plan, leads and manages the project team/s and relevant stakeholders to achieve strategic project key performance indicators (KPIs).

7. Prepares and modifies where necessary project plans and keeps them updated and relevant over the course of the project/s.

8. Oversees project timeframes and budgets, ensuring successful delivery of projects, highlighting any risks, challenges and mitigations..

9. Collaborates with relevant stakeholders and ensures robust quality systems are in place and suitably managed and monitored in line with Service Excellence.

10. Leads and records relevant meetings, providing relevant parties with contextual information and analysis.

11. Partners with relevant stakeholders and is actively involved in risk management and mitigation treatments.

12. Effectively coordinates and communicates with all project stakeholders, ensuring completion of responsibilities/tasks and that appropriate standards and records are documented and maintained.

13. Takes ownership of project changes, as and when necessary, tracking project changes and ensuring they are progressed and formalised within the agreed timeframes.

14. Responsible for ensuring approved handover documentation is coordinated and provided prior to practical completion.

15. Knowledge of CDM regulations

16. Develop and maintain project budgets and financial forecasts.

17. Support Project Managers and department heads to gather budgetary information and ensure alignment with project goals.

18. Monitor project budget performance and provide regular updates to Project Manager to action

19. Analyze project financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for cost improvement.

20. Prepare detailed project cost reports and support the Project Manager in presenting findings to senior management and project stakeholders.

21. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of project financial information

22. Proven experience in cost control, project accounting, or financial management.

23. Implement and maintain cost control procedures to ensure efficient use of project resources.

24. Monitor and review project costs, ensuring they are within budget.

25. Identify and recommend cost-saving measures and process improvements specific to projects.

You’ll also have:

26. Experience of the UK rail industry and its regulatory framework.

27. Accredited NEC4 Project Manager

28. Formal qualification in Project Management, Finance or Accounting.

29. Member of a relevant professional body with chartered status
