Health Care Assistant - Baschurch Unit

Baschurch Unit is a busy Admission and Day Case Unit.
Patients are prepared for Surgery, it is a fast paced unit where up to 50 patients can come through in a day, and up to 30 returning to the unit for discharge after surgery.
Health Care Assistants help patients to get dressed, offer diet and fluids, clean the theatre trolleys, handle patient belongings, take bloods, perform ECGs and much more.
Under current Home Office Immigration Rules, this role does not meet the UK Visas and Immigration criteria and the position is not therefore eligible for skilled worker sponsorship. Applications from candidates that require skilled worker sponsorship will NOT be shortlisted.
Main duties of the job
To assist Patients pre-op and post-op, to ensure the safe, smooth running of the theatre pathway.
Deliver excellent patient centred care, working as a team and working within the Trust Values.
Phlebotomy skills are required, this can be completed in house.
Candidate must be compassionate and caring.

Job responsibilities
To support the nursing staff in the admitting of patients for surgery, preparing them for surgery and chaperoning them to the anaesthetic room, supporting hand-over to the surgical team, then providing discharge care for the short stay patients post-surgery.
To aid the efficient and smooth running of the Short Stay Surgery Unit. To aid the flow of equipment as required and to be able to assist in which ever area is requested.
All activities will be under the direction of the professional responsible for the care of the patient.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Willingness to complete N.V.Q. Level II in Healthcare or equivalent
* Willingness to complete Phlebotomy / ECG training
* N.V.Q. Level II in Healthcare or equivalent
* Evidence of Phlebotomy / ECG training
Experience
* Demonstrable experience in a caring environment
* Previous hospital experience
Knowledge
* Basic computer skills
