Overview
Quality Control North West Liverpool is an NHS regional specialist department providing pharmaceutical testing services. We are part of the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Aintree, Broadgreen, Royal Liverpool). The laboratory is modern, regulated by MHRA, and accredited to ISO17025.
Role
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated individual educated to B.Sc. level in chemistry, biochemistry or a related science subject. The candidate should have knowledge of a broad range of analytical techniques, be able to record data clearly and accurately, and work with and without direct supervision. One permanent role and one 12‑month fixed‑term vacancy are available.
Responsibilities
* Conduct routine testing of pharmaceutical preparations, including raw materials, in‑process samples and finished products.
* Perform project work such as method development, stability, and comparative studies of small and large molecule pharmaceutical preparations, including compounded mAb preparations.
* Utilise techniques including HPLC, UV, sub‑visible particles and CE.
* Assist the Section Heads in maintaining a fully documented and validated scheme for the chemistry laboratory work, validating and monitoring processes and techniques, and updating systems and practices.
* Assist in the development and validation of analytical methods for testing and new generation large molecule drug formulations.
* Prepare high‑quality reports for QCNW clients.
* Enter sample details into the laboratory information system and ensure accurate recording for audit purposes.
* Communicate difficulties to senior staff to minimise delays and ensure timely testing.
* Perform equipment calibration checks and maintenance as directed.
* Help maintain laboratory environment, waste disposal, and quality systems and documentation.
* Participate in Section and Departmental staff meetings and coordinate with other team members for efficient use of equipment.
Qualifications
* B.Sc. level in chemistry, biochemistry or a related science subject.
* Knowledge of a broad range of analytical techniques.
* Ability to record data accurately and maintain traceability.
* Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
