Title: Senior Technical Manager
Job location: Dhaka, Bangladesh
Responsibility:
* Recruit, train, motivate and discipline the Garment & Fabric Technical Team, Quality teams as required, to follow all SOP procedures and to communicate effectively to all departments.
* Set and maintain the professional standards of work and decision making at all times.
* Work closely with other departments within the business (Merchandising, Product Development, Supplier Sourcing, Compliance) to give the best possible service to the business in terms of quality, design, speed and price.
* Communicate with other NS Technical Managers (Hong Kong, Shanghai, Sri Lanka, Turkey etc.) to discuss new initiatives and share information on the supply base.
Suppliers – 70+ suppliers across Woven, Jersey, Knitwear and more recently Home.
* Develop strong working relationships with garment manufacturers, fabric suppliers, laundries and other Tier 2 suppliers.
* Establish and maintain robust working procedures with suppliers. Ensure all procedures comply with NEXT SOP requirements.
* Conduct seminars, presentations and training sessions for garment manufacturers to educate to NEXT procedures and standards and upskill in house Garment/Fabric Techs & QA’s through continuous trainings.
* Take commercial decisions wherever necessary in line with NEXT requirements
* Conduct factory Technical Audit evaluations on current and proposed factories within the country.
* Ensure compliance with all legislation at all times.
* Communicate with suppliers on new technology and on-line tools and platforms to improve efficiencies. Give feedback to Sourcing, Product Development, Merchandising and UK Technology.
Customer – Womenswear, Menswear, Childrenswear and Home
* Communicate with UK Technology on all garment & fabric related issues. Establish clear lines of communications and develop strong relationships based on trust.
* Manage sample approval autonomy on all departments so local approvals can be achieved wherever possible.
Skill & Competencies:
* Over 10 years working experience in European Counties relevant roles within a sourcing office environment
* Experience of working with manufacturers, pattern, fabric and garment making.
* 3D experience an advantage.
* Global Environmental and Sustainability target awareness would be an advantage and knowledge of Higg, ZDHC, BCI etc.
* Navigating systems and computer literate
* Able to travel for business
* Teamwork and collaboration
* Professional with a strong work ethic
