Location: London / Essex (remote with occasional travel to services) We're recruiting for a newly created Head of Finance position with a long-established care provider supporting individuals with learning disabilities, dementia, mental health, and elderly care needs. This is an appointment with a highly respected not-for-profit organisation known for its commitment to values-led care and long-standing service across London and Essex. The Role This senior appointment will be supported by a small finance team, playing a critical role in financial leadership, strategy, and governance. You'll be responsible for delivering strong financial stewardship, overseeing the finance function, and acting as Company Secretary. Working closely with the Executive Management Team, you will guide long-term financial planning, manage internal controls and risk frameworks, and ensure the integrity of financial reporting. This role will suit a technically strong and values-led finance professional who thrives in a mission-driven environment and enjoys working at both operational and strategic levels. Key Responsibilities Lead the Finance team and oversee financial operations across the organisation Develop and deliver financial strategy, budgets, forecasts, and KPIs Manage risk, internal controls, payroll and statutory reporting Oversee the preparation of management accounts, annual accounts and Trustee reports Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting deadlines Support business planning, tenders, mergers, and funding opportunities Act as Company Secretary and main point of contact for auditors Provide meaningful insights to the Board and Executive Team Oversee investment strategy and insurance arrangements Candidate Profile Fully qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent) At least 5 years' experience in a senior finance leadership role Strong understanding of financial strategy within care, charity or NFP sectors Skilled in financial modelling, system development, and performance reporting Confident people manager with proven team leadership experience Knowledge of care sector funding and pension arrangements (e.g. SHPS) Able to travel across London and Essex as required Working Pattern & Benefits 37.5 hours per week Competitive salary £60,000-£65,000 Flexible hours and remote working 28 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays), rising with service SHPS pension scheme with life assurance Health and dental benefit options Access to Early Pay, Employee Wellbeing Programme, and more Interested?
