About the Role
Provide engineering design solutions and through‑life engineering support to the JFD product range. Workload can vary from new product design to client or internal specifications through to supporting an existing client’s request to upgrade or change equipment in the field.
Responsibilities
* Provide engineering design input to new products and engineering support to the existing product range by assessing technical queries and solving engineering challenges.
* Liaise with internal JFD departments such as sales, procurement and production to ensure the best technical solution is provided.
* Source suitable components and materials, create part numbers and bill of materials.
* Create engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certification and reports.
* Check detailed electrical drawings and documentation, ensure adherence to engineering and company standards and regulations.
* Ensure engineering solutions are delivered on time and on budget.
* Conduct site visits to other JFD offices and client assets as required.
* Act as technical checker of drawings and documentation for the electrical engineer role.
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven electrical and electronics design skills.
* Skilled in generating design calculations.
* Experience with engineering design software/CAD packages.
* Knowledge of design standards.
* Previous product design experience, especially DC systems, is advantageous.
* Experience in a Graduate Engineer position is ideal.
* Experience using Product Lifecycle Management systems.
* Electrical or Electronics engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
* Experience working to marine, defence standards and class society rules (LR and DNV).
* Must be able to pass security clearance and be eligible to work and reside in the UK.
