Role
This is a senior opportunity for a Financial Economist to take a leading position in regulatory finance, working at the intersection of economic policy, corporate finance, and infrastructure investment.
You will play a key role in developing and influencing regulatory frameworks, advising on financial resilience and investment strategy, and engaging directly with regulators, government bodies, and global investors. The position offers significant visibility and the chance to impact major policy decisions across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development of regulatory finance policy, including cost of capital, risk and return, and financial resilience frameworks
* Provide expert analysis and advice on corporate finance issues within a regulated environment
* Engage with regulators, government departments, and industry stakeholders to shape regulatory outcomes
* Act as a key point of contact for investors, credit rating agencies, and financial institutions, supporting market engagement
* Analyse financial performance, capital structures, and investment strategies across regulated entities
* Contribute to major regulatory reviews, consultations, and price control frameworks
* Translate complex financial and economic analysis into clear, strategic recommendations for senior stakeholders
* Support the broader debate on economic regulation and infrastructure finance at a national level
Key Skills
* Strong background in financial economics, corporate finance, or economic regulation
* Proven experience working within regulatory finance, ideally in a regulated utility, consultancy, financial institution, or regulatory body
* Deep understanding of cost of capital, investment frameworks, and financial risk within regulated environments
* Ability to analyse complex financial data and translate insights into policy or strategic recommendations
* Experience engaging with senior stakeholders, including regulators, investors, or government bodies
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise at senior level
* Academic background in economics, finance, or a related analytical discipline (or equivalent experience)
* Must have the right to work in the UK
