Specialist pharmacist Older People’s Service (North Sector)

Location: Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Glasgow.
Shift pattern: Monday to Friday 8.30-4.45 with weekend, public holiday and on-call commitment.
Post could be considered as a secondment.
Band 7 (12 months). 37 hours per week.
Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced clinical pharmacist with excellent communication skills to join our Older People’s Service clinical pharmacy team at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Responsibilities
* Provide service to just under 200 care of the elderly and stroke patients in the Hyper‑Acute Stroke Unit, Medical Receiving Unit, downstream acute wards with five further rehabilitation wards and acute rehabilitation centres off‑site within Stobhill Hospital and Lightburn Hospital.
* Act as a member of the clinical team, contributing to multidisciplinary comprehensive geriatric assessment and polypharmacy review.
* Serve as a source of information and prescribing support, providing information on all aspects of drug use including patient safety.
* Contribute to the delivery of the pharmacy strategy, participate in team meetings, research and quality improvement activities.
* Involved in the expansion of the Frailty Service to meet the demands of a growing patient cohort.
* Participate in heart‑failure with preserved ejection fraction clinics and develop pharmacist stroke clinics.
* Advance practice in line with the Pharmacy Strategy and support the development of foundation pharmacists, trainee pharmacists, technical staff and experiential learning students.
Qualifications
* Completed, or near completion of, SVTS stage 2 or the RPS post‑registration foundation programme.
* Independent Prescriber or working towards this qualification.
* Commitment to the RPS Advanced Practice Curriculum; opportunities for advancement encouraged.
