Contract: Part-time | 18.5 hours per week | Initial 3–6 months with potential for extension
A local authority located in Wigan is looking to recruit an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Early Intervention Team on a part-time basis (18.5 hours per week).
This role focuses on early intervention, prevention, and timely assessment to reduce the need for long-term care and support. The successful candidate will work within a supportive local authority team, completing assessments and recommending practical solutions to promote independence and wellbeing.
Main Duties:
1. Complete Care Act 2014 assessments within an Early Intervention framework
2. Undertake community-based Occupational Therapy assessments
3. Identify preventative interventions to reduce escalation of care needs
4. Recommend and arrange appropriate equipment and minor adaptations
5. Promote independence through strength-based and proportionate assessments
6. Work collaboratively with social workers, health professionals, and partner agencies
7. Ensure all work is completed in line with safeguarding procedures
8. Maintain accurate and timely case recording
Requirements:
9. Minimum 2 years post-qualified experience
10. Previous experience as a community-based Occupational Therapist
11. Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014
12. Experience working within Early Intervention or preventative services (desirable)
13. HCPC Registration
14. Enhanced DBS/CRB (assistance available)
15. Eligibility to work in the UK
16. Ability to work effectively within a local authority setting
