Join one of our dynamic, committed and supportive integrated, multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health Teams in the vibrant city of Manchester.
An opportunity has arisen to work in one of our busy, multicultural community mental health teams. The CMHTs are multidisciplinary teams, comprising nurses, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, employment specialists, and peer support workers. The teams are supported by good administrative systems and offer excellent working environments. They have strong links with local statutory and non-statutory services. All CMHTs work closely with colleagues in Urgent Care and Inpatient Wards across GMMH.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of the Community Inclusion Service as a senior support worker under the supervision of the team manager and Occupational Therapist. The primary purpose is to work with service users, both individually and in groups, in a goal- and recovery-focused manner, to help individuals improve their wellbeing and move towards independence. This involves helping service users overcome barriers to engagement in activities of their choice and supporting access to mainstream community activities. Responsibilities include developing community links, providing one-to-one support to enable service users to be active, develop skills, and contribute to their communities. The role also involves co-creating goal plans with service users, conducting regular reviews, and monitoring progress. Additionally, the post involves supporting service users with severe mental health issues to access employment, education, and training opportunities.
