Department overview The EE CAD team are responsible for generation and control of 3D and 2D CAD data across the Electrical Engineering department, for all vehicle programmes. Job purpose The purpose of this role is to lead coordination and track the progress of CAD maturity, as well as designing and manipulating supplier CAD data for Electrical Engineering components and systems in the support of future Aston Martin products. Key duties and responsibilities Interface with Programme, Package and Design to identify and manage task list priorities Distribution of tasks to CAD team resource Tracking and reporting CAD data maturity Be a mentor for other members of the CAD team Designing of EE components in NX in liaison with component/commodity engineers. Generate and maintain CAD generation and quality standards Management of CAD data using Team Centre Engineering. Release of 3D and 2D detail designs/drawings, including maintenance of Team Centre Digital bucks, to AML standard. Manage component engineers and suppliers to establish all necessary information in support of design activities. Support virtual series activities (CAD generation, assembly building and buck population) Lead package studies and reviews with all necessary information in consideration of all affected areas. Support engineers with information for part procurement activities. Lead design reviews & package meetings where required. Support / assist engineers in the resolution of engineering concerns including ensuring CAD information is available and transferred to the supplier in a timely manner. Advising relevant engineer or programme manager if data is likely to be late. Data transfer via web-based portals or high-speed data links. Experience and Qualifications Essential experience Very good knowledge of automotive electrical systems and component design. An understanding and significant experience of 3D and 2D (drafting) CAD. Very good knowledge and experience of NX and Team Centre. Management and distribution of tasks with prioritisation A flexible attitude to the range of systems is required and the ability to support multiple programmes with demanding time constraints. Good knowledge of 2D drawing standards (GD&T) is required. Preferred experience Knowledge of product development cycle from concept to launch completion Knowledge of automotive development systems e.g. releasing, concerns, containments, gateways and sign off documentation. Experience of automotive pre-production build environments Experience of working in a cross functional team to tackle complex issue resolution Leading a team and allocating tasks Essential education/ qualifications Appropriate engineering degree Preferred education/ qualifications Professional accreditation, Masters degree Required skills/ Behaviours Proven extensive design innovation and creativity Communication and influencing skills Extensive knowledge of NX and Team Centre Good PC skills, including MS Office and preparation of Power Point presentations and excel tracking documents 2D Drafting Standards Team player & able to collaborate with others Good problem-solving skills Analytical mindset and critical thinking Builds positive and constructive relationships and is aware of others’ needs and uses this to work well together Works effectively with others to achieve goals e.g. recognises how different contributions and ways of working led to success Notices issues and seeks to address customer concerns.
