We are seeking a Health and Safety Teacher to join our education team at HMP Five Wells. You will deliver engaging and relevant Health and Safety lessons to adult learners within a custodial environment, supporting them to gain recognised qualifications and develop skills that improve their employability on release. Working as part of a wider multi-disciplinary education team, you will plan and deliver lessons that meet awarding body requirements while adapting your approach to the needs of individual learners, Previous teaching experience is not essential. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week. Who are Novus? Built in 2022, and costing £253m, this state of the art prison accommodates a male prison population. Role Responsibilities Plan, prepare and deliver Health and Safety teaching sessions to small groups of adult learners Assess learner progress and provide timely, constructive feedback Support learners to achieve accredited Health and Safety qualifications Maintain accurate learner records in line with quality and awarding body requirements Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment Work collaboratively with colleagues and prison staff to support learner engagement and progress Skills, Qualifications and Experience To be successful in this role, you will need to: A recognised Health and Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent) A teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
