Department of Chemistry, Chemistry Research Laboratory, 12 Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA About the role Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in electron-molecule scattering to work under the supervision of Professor Claire Vallance for a period of up to 12 months. The project involves instrument development and studies of electron-induced processes in a variety of small to medium sized molecules, and is funded by the ‘New Directions in Molecular Scattering’ programme grant. Find out more about the research and group at: and About you Applicants must hold a PhD in PhysicalChemistry or a related area, (or be close to completion) prior to taking up the appointment. The research requires experience in high vacuum systems, laser, molecular beams and laser desorption sources, charged particle beams and optics, velocity-map imaging detection, and the associated data processing and analysis. You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, University of Oxford, and is available from 1 November 2026. Application Process
