Offer description

Do you have an analytical mind and the ability to remain calm under pressure? Are you a great team player who relishes a challenging and varied role? If so, we have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Production Technician!

We have multiple opportunities across our region. There are vacancies in North Wiltshire, South Wiltshire, Yeovil, Dorchester and Exmoor. When you submit your application, please ensure you inform us of your preferred area of operation.

What you'll do

Our sites comprise a variety of surface water, spring and borehole sources, water treatment centres and stream support boreholes.

Your role will involve working as part of a team to operate, maintain and optimise our water production sites to ensure we provide a reliable supply of high-quality drinking water to our customers while minimising our impact on the environment.

As a Production Technician, you will complete a mix of planned maintenance (ensuring compliance expectations are met) and reactive work (responding to site shutdowns/water quality issues), with the ability to prioritise tasks being essential. Once trained, you will take ownership of your own area of sites.

As the water industry is a 24/7 business, your role will involve some out-of-hours standby and weekend working. Health and safety are at the forefront of everything we do, so it's essential that you always work to ensure the safety of yourself and others and comply with company procedures.

Full training will be provided covering all aspects of the role, including an industry-recognised NVQ in water treatment. A company van will also be provided for business use.

What you'll need

1. Experience in the water industry or an understanding of water treatment processes is desirable but not essential.
2. The ability to think logically to solve problems and interpret and analyse data.
3. Good communication skills are key, so you should be able to relay technical information clearly to others, both verbally and in writing.
4. A flexible approach to work is important; you must have a strong ethos of teamwork, but also be comfortable working independently.
5. The ability to stay focused and calm is important as the work can involve high-pressure situations.
6. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office is desirable, and PC literacy is essential.
7. To live within the geographical areas listed at the top of this advert.

What you'll receive

8. A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
9. Career progression and professional development opportunities.
10. 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
11. The opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
12. A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
13. Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
14. A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary, subject to conditions.
15. Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
16. One paid volunteering day each year.
17. Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
18. An interactive health and wellbeing platform.
19. Support from mental health first aiders.
20. A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone to work for us.
