Astute Recruitment are working with a Matlock based business to add an Assistant Accountant to their dynamic team. Reporting to the Accountant, youll support the day-to-day finance operations and month-end processes, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial data. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong purchase ledger experience, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive attitude. Key Responsibilities: Process supplier invoices promptly and reconcile supplier statements Resolve supplier queries efficiently Regularly review GRNI balances, ensuring relevance and accuracy Produce monthly purchase ledger reports and assist with month-end close Complete monthly accounts payable and intercompany reconciliations Manage Concur transactions issuing credit card statements and matching claims to payments Review expense claims for HMRC compliance (VAT & PAYE) Assist in processing Capex submissions and creating project IDs in SAP Support balance sheet reconciliations and cost analysis Recharge intercompany costs and ensure all payments are received Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual National Statistics returns Support internal and external audits Undertake SAP testing and ad hoc financial projects as required Provide general administrative and finance support across the department Essential Skills & Experience: AAT qualified or working towards a professional qualification (CIMA, ACCA, etc.) Strong IT skills, including SAP and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) Experience within a finance department, ideally with a focus on purchase ledger Excellent communication and teamwork skills Ability to plan and prioritise workload effectively High attention to detail and accuracy under pressure Benefits & Hours: Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum, dependent on experience Bonus Scheme Pension: 6.25% employee contribution / 10% employer contribution Life Assurance: 3x annual salary death-in-service cover Hours: Flexible working between 8:00am - 5:00pm (45-minute lunch) Early finish on Fridays (working day reduced by 30 minutes) Supportive, team-focused environment with strong health, safety, and environmental values
