Overview
The Design Engineer will develop mechanical products within an ISO 9001 environment, using 3D CAD systems and applying DFMA and continuous improvement principles to deliver cost‑effective, innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Creates 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using NX, Inventor, or AutoCAD.
* Conducts FEA/FMEA analyses to ensure performance and safety.
* Manages new product development and improves existing designs.
* Produces Bills of Materials, specifications, and technical documentation.
* Applies Value Engineering (VAVE) principles and participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
* Collaborates with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
Skills & Experience
* 5+ years’ mechanical design experience in a 3D CAD environment.
* Proficiency in NX, Inventor, or AutoCAD.
* Experience with FEA preferred; knowledge of rotating machinery advantageous.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
* Team player with a proactive, positive attitude.
Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or HNC/HND with relevant experience.
* Experience designing machinery with rotating parts.
* Hand calculations and engineering calculations experience.
* IEng registration desirable but not essential.
