An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our team in the Clinical Biochemistry Department of the ISO15189:2022 accredited laboratory at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust. We provide diagnostic and monitoring services to patients across a wide geographical area and support both the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Poole General Hospital.
Applicants nearing HCPC registration may be considered for appointment at Trainee Biomedical Scientist level until registration is achieved.

Key Information
* Base location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital (will work across sites).
* HCPC Registration required.
* Open‑ended out‑of‑hours rota participation.
* Position will close on Tuesday 19 May 2026.
Responsibilities
* Act in a scientific role in the analysis of blood, body fluids, tissues and cells using specialised laboratory equipment to determine presence or absence of disease and monitor treatment effectiveness.
* Perform delegated tasks and contribute to day‑to‑day organisation and delivery of the clinical pathology service, ensuring high standards of patient care.
* Assist in teaching and development of trainee staff and support workers.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of developments in Biochemistry as part of continuing professional development (CPD).
Requirements
* Valid HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
* Training and experience in biochemistry laboratory work.
* Ability to work across multiple sites and participate in out‑of‑hours rota.
* Willingness to use AI tools responsibly and maintain integrity of the application.
