Within our Analytical Services team, we have a functional service provider solution, which is a unique partnership that allows our customers to leverage the experience of our staff, while allowing you, the employee, to gain direct experience working onsite at a pharmaceutical/ biopharmaceutical company, all while maintaining full-time benefits.
The Bioanalysis and Biomarker Platforms team at our client site is seeking a Senior Scientist to lead the development, optimization, and implementation of automated laboratory workflows. In this role, you will enhance operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with GCP standards, troubleshoot and maintain automation systems, and author technical documentation and standard operating procedures. You will provide training and support to laboratory staff, evaluate and implement new automation platforms, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to design customized solutions. The role also involves staying current with emerging technologies and contributing to scientific and technical innovation through engagement with internal and external experts.
Key Responsibilities
The role requires expertise in:
* Designing, optimizing, and maintaining automated systems and workflows, with a strong understanding of GCP compliance and quality assurance processes.
* Candidates should have experience authoring technical documents, SOPs, and delivering effective training.
* Strategic thinking is essential for developing automation strategies and evaluating new technologies, alongside strong collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and translate project requirements into solutions.
* A proven ability to drive scientific innovation and stay updated on emerging technologies is key.
* Programming in Hamilton is key to success in this role.
* Liquid Handling Automation (Hamilton, Dragonfly, Echos)
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification degree with Engineering focus preferred.
* Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 3+ years).
* Experience working in a clinical, regulated space.
* Hands on experience with automated workflows including Hamilton liquid handlers.
* Designing, optimizing and maintaining automated systems.
* Familiar with GCP.
In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* An advanced degree in engineering, life sciences, computer science, or related fields, as well as certifications in automation technologies.
* Extensive experience evaluating and implementing new automation platforms and instrumentation are highly desirable.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex automated systems are preferred, along with proficiency in programming, scripting, or software development for automation workflows.
* Familiarity with laboratory operations, data management systems, and analytical tools is advantageous.
* A track record of scientific innovation, engagement with industry experts, and a proactive approach to adopting emerging technologies.
