* To provide evidence based efficient, cost effective and robust mechanical and specialist engineering contracts to ensure full compliance with statutory instruments, Department of Health guidance and industry best practice.
* To ensure all Hospital mechanical engineering systems are maintained in a safe condition and are fit for purpose.

Hours are 08.00am to 16.00pm Monday to Friday. 27 days annual leave plus public holidays.
Overtime may be required.

Person specification
Qualifications and Professional Development
* Must have a good standard of general education plus additional knowledge attained via a recognised and relevant diploma level (at HNC/HND level) in Building Services/Mechanical Engineering/Construction related discipline or approved equivalent training
* Degree in Building Services/Mechanical Engineering/Construction related discipline or equivalent experience
* Specialist knowledge acquired through continued professional development and education, equivalent to post-graduate courses/diplomas/Master qualification in building/construction/estates related discipline.
* Completion of a structured training program in engineering discipline for a minimum period of five years
* Full Current Driving Licence
* Trained in Health & Safety, i.e., NEBOSH, IOSH, First Aid etc.
* Member of relevant healthcare or engineering institutes, i.e., IHEEM, HEFMA, CIBSE, IET, CIOB etc.
* Experience across several of the HTM’s acting as either an Authorised Person (AP).
Knowledge, Experience and Technical Skills
* Experience of managing engineering building services, operational engineering maintenance and repair services
* Experience and knowledge of operational budget management
* Experience of managing contractors
* Experience in specifying and managing engineering contracts
* Extensive knowledge and experience of working with engineering systems within complex organisations and environments
* Experience of working within and developing a ‘safe system of work’ and dealing with health and safety issues
* Experience of Estates Management/Project Management including the concurrent management of multiple projects and services
* Knowledge of HTM’s, HBN’s and Estates specific legislation
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal to a wide range of individuals and groups at all levels internally and externally
* Computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of programs, BMS and CAFM systems
* Demonstrable record of accomplishment of working effectively within and through multi-disciplinary teams
* Highly organised and able to manage a complex workload
* Can apply the knowledge, experience, and judgement necessary to demonstrate, in a practical sense, the safe operation and maintenance of specific systems/equipment.
* Can plan and organise in coordination with contractors unsupervised routine and complex maintenance, analysis, solution finding and repair work
* Experience in working in a similar role
* Previous experience of working with a quality management system (e.g., ISO 9001)
* Substantial specialist experience gained from working in a complex multi-site health care engineering environment
