Context
We are seeking a Principal Engineer/Associate with experience in the Highways/Development Infrastructure Sector to be part of our growing and vibrant team working on exciting highway projects. The key role is to assist and support the Management of the Infrastructure team in the North of England, along with winning and delivering projects safely, efficiently, and effectively. The role offers hybrid working with 2-3 days office based.
Missions / Main Duties
* Reporting to the Infrastructure Director for the UK, you will play an important role within the team to support the delivery of projects. You will work closely with private and public sector clients of all types and across all sectors locally and regionally.
* Assist in delivery of a varied programme of highway and transportation schemes for a wide range of public and private sector clients across both local and strategic highway networks.
* Develop infrastructure projects from feasibility through to detailed design, including highway design and drainage design, and manage associated technical and statutory authority approvals.
* Take responsibility for projects, delivery, budgets, resourcing, planning and programming while assisting in the preparation of technical outputs, coordinating with other disciplines and representing the business internally and externally.
* Play a key role in leadership and development of the team, projects, clients and overall business performance, including leading projects.
Qualifications
* Essential: MEng/MSc or BEng in Civil Engineering; ideally Chartered status (ICE or CIHT) or working toward Professional Qualification; extensive Civil Engineering experience within a consultancy.
* Self-motivated with the ability to lead project delivery and manage dynamic teams delivering high-quality projects.
* Strong technical capabilities in highway and drainage design and related approvals (S278/38).
* Good knowledge of DMRB, MCHW, MfS, TSM, Local Authority guides and their applications.
* Strong understanding of standard engineering practices and Health and Safety (CDM).
* IT literate with excellent knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil3D and related civil engineering software.
* Experience of project management with awareness of financial and commercial aspects of projects.
* Ability to determine appropriate solutions with innovation and value; excellent written and verbal communication with clients and design teams; ability to mentor and supervise junior colleagues.
* Ability to work collaboratively with a range of design teams and project stakeholders; ability to deliver on time while handling multiple projects.
Desirable
* Experience of working with Public and Private sector is preferable.
* Knowledge of and engagement with the civil engineering industry.
* Adaptable, self-motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, and a desire to self-progress.
* Flexibility, agility, and willingness to learn new skills.
* Ability to see the bigger picture and understand the consequences of decisions.
